Friction-Welded Drill Pipes: Strong, Reliable & Cost-Efficient for Your Drilling Operations

In the ever-evolving oil and gas industry, choosing the right drill pipe is critical for safe, efficient, and cost-effective drilling operations. At WELONG, we offer a full range of friction-welded drill pipes engineered for durability, high performance, and optimal corrosion resistance across a variety of applications and formations.

✅ Key Pipe Body Grades: E75, X95, G105, S135

We supply drill pipes made from the most commonly used API steel grades:

  • E75
  • X95
  • G105
  • S135

These grades cover a wide spectrum of mechanical strength and toughness, with yield strength increasing from E75 to S135.

Steel Grade Yield Strength (psi) Key Application
E75 75,000 Shallow to medium-depth wells
X95 95,000 Standard-depth drilling
G105 105,000 High-pressure wells
S135 135,000 Deep, high-load or directional wells

⚠️ Note: Higher steel grades offer greater strength, but corrosion fatigue resistance decreases as the grade increases. This makes lower-grade pipes more resistant to corrosion cracking in certain drilling fluids.

⚙️ Material Selection Matters: Not Always “The Stronger, The Better”

Although higher steel grades such as S135 are stronger, they are also more susceptible to corrosion fatigue failure in corrosive drilling environments (such as those with high salinity, CO₂, or H₂S).

WELONG Recommendation:

“Choose the lowest grade that meets your strength requirements — this approach helps reduce both cost and failure risk.”
